Camera problems

Status Solution

Camera does not

turn on

■ Charge rechargeable batteries (see page 1).

■ Remove then reinsert or replace batteries. If the camera still does

not function, go to www.kodak.com/go/z981support and select

Interactive Troubleshooting & Repairs.

Camera does not turn

off

Camera buttons and

controls do not

function

Camera freezes up

when a card is inserted

or removed.

■ Turn the camera off, then back on. Make sure the camera is

turned off before inserting or removing a card.

LCD is too dark. ■ Adjust the LCD Brightness setting (see page 43).

In Review, a blue or

black screen is

displayed instead of

a picture

■ Transfer the picture to the computer (see page 46), then format

the card or internal memory.

■ Take another picture.

In Review, you do not

see a picture (or the

expected picture) on

the LCD

■ Check the image storage location (see page 45). Format the card

in the camera (see page 45)

Caution: Formatting a card deletes all pictures and

videos, including protected files.

Pictures remaining

number does not

decrease after taking a

picture

■ Continue taking pictures. The camera is operating normally.

(The camera estimates the number of pictures remaining after each

picture is taken, based on picture size and content.)

Flash does not fire ■ Check the flash setting, and change as needed (see page 14).

NOTE: The flash does not fire in all modes.
